This calculator returns a number based on your height and weight. This number is used to track possible weight issues. Be aware though that recently the BMI index has come under increasing scrutiny because
- It doesn’t take into account whether your weight is lean body muscle or body fat. Using the BMI index alone some of the world’s top athletes like Kobe, Tom Brady, and Lebron James as well as some of Hollywood’s fittest actors such as The “Rock” Dwayne Johnson, Vin Diesel and Brad Pitt would be considered overweight or obese. Clearly they aren’t!
- Recent studies have shown that life expectancy is greatest for men with a BMI of around 26, a number that was considered overweight just a few years ago.
This calculator measures the number of calories that you burn per day based on your gender, height, weight, age, and activity level.
As we age our Basil Metabolic Rate or most commonly called “metabolism” naturally slows down meaning we burn fewer calories in a sedentary state. To raise your metabolism to a higher level it’s necessary to increase your level of activity.
